What the degree apprenticeship route means here
A degree apprenticeship is a job with a degree attached. You are employed, paid and given release to study; the employer meets the training cost through the apprenticeship levy, so there is no tuition fee and no fee loan. The catch is supply: you cannot apply for the course, you apply for a vacancy, and vacancies are advertised by NHS trusts and other employers in far smaller numbers than university places.
17 of the 139 approved physiotherapist courses follow this route. The rest are undergraduate degree (58), pre-registration master’s (54) and integrated master’s (10) , and all of them lead to the same HCPC registration and the same starting job. Choose the route that matches where you are now — school leaver, graduate, or already working for an employer who might sponsor you — rather than the one that sounds most senior.
None of these courses carries a UCAS code in the dataset, which normally means applying direct to the university or, for apprenticeships, to the employer advertising the vacancy. 4 publish a typical offer in a citable form, shown in the table below. Whatever the route, the programme has to include 1,000 hours of assessed practice placement, and that is where most of the travel and most of the unpaid time goes.
