Provenance
Every source, and what its licence allows
27 datasets sit behind this site. 10 of them are openly licensed and can be reused with attribution; the rest carry conditions or cannot be republished at all. Each entry below is linkable, so any figure on the site can point at the exact source it came from.
Why the status matters more than the licence name
A licence name on its own does not tell you what you may do with a dataset. What matters in practice is a three-way question: may this be republished, may it be republished on conditions, or may it only be linked to? The registry stores that answer next to every source, and the pipeline enforces it — so the distinction is not editorial policy that someone might forget, it is a build failure if it is broken.
This has visible consequences on the site. Some pages show a figure outright; some show a fact and send you to the publisher for the detail; some tell you the data exists but is not ours to reproduce. That inconsistency is the licences showing through, and it is preferable to the alternative, which is copying material this site has no right to copy and hoping nobody checks. 5 of these sources require registration for an API key, which also means their terms can change without the data changing.
If you are reusing anything from this site, follow the source link on the page you took it from and check the licence at first hand — the entry here records what was true when the licence was last verified (3 September 2026), not what is true today.
Open licence — 10 sources
Published under the Open Government Licence or an equivalent open licence. The data can be republished, reshaped and combined with other datasets, provided the publisher is credited — which is what the source block at the foot of every page on this site does.

Conditional licence — 9 sources
Reusable, but only on terms the publisher sets: a mandatory attribution line, a link back to the original, registration for an API key, a rate limit, or a restriction on bulk redistribution. Where a condition limits what can be shown, the site follows the condition rather than the convenience — usually by publishing the bare fact and linking out for the rest.

Only the numeric pay values and band boundaries (facts, not protected expression) are reused, with attribution to NHS Employers and a link to the source page; the handbook text, tables and layout are not reproduced.

- Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Information provided by the Care Quality Commission.
- Conditions of reuse
- CQC states 'Our data is made available under the Open Government Licence' and additionally requires that you acknowledge on your site or service that you are using CQC information. Access is through the CQC API portal, which offers sign-in/sign-up; whether a subscription key is mandatory was not confirmed from the pages read and is not asserted here. The API requires TLS 1.2 or higher.

Find an apprenticeship recruitment and display-adverts APIs
- Required attribution
- Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Conditions of reuse
- The GOV.UK guidance footer carries the Open Government Licence v3.0 statement, but access is gated: 'You will need to give your developer API keys. The keys give your developer permission to connect to the API on your behalf.' Keys are issued through an apprenticeship service employer account, so the API is only usable by (or on behalf of) a registered employer. The guidance describes a Recruitment API for creating adverts and a Display adverts API for showing Find an apprenticeship adverts on your own website; it does not describe an open vacancy-search API.

HCPC approved programmes directory
- Conditions of reuse
- HCPC publishes no open licence for this directory; the page footer asserts only 'HCPC © 2026'. The directory is a searchable interface with no bulk download offered. HCPC robots.txt does not disallow /education/approved-programmes/, so the listing pages are crawlable, but no licence grants republication of the database as a whole. Use is limited to factual approval status per programme, attributed to HCPC with a link back to the directory; permission should be sought before republishing the directory in bulk.

HCPC register summary and registrant snapshots (aggregate)
- Conditions of reuse
- Aggregate registrant counts by profession are published on the HCPC site and via registrant snapshot factsheets, but no licence or reuse statement is given; the footer asserts only 'HCPC © 2026'. Aggregate figures are used as facts with attribution to HCPC and a link to the source page. The page read stated the data was 'valid as of 01 September 2026'.

NHS Jobs adverts API
- Conditions of reuse
- The endpoint exists but is authenticated: an unauthenticated request returns HTTP 403 with the body {"message":"Missing Authentication Token"}. No public licence, terms of use or developer documentation for the adverts API could be retrieved in this session (jobs.nhs.uk returns HTTP 403 to automated page requests and serves an empty robots.txt), so no licence is asserted. Access should be arranged with NHS Jobs and the terms confirmed in writing before any advert content is republished.

NHS Staff Survey results
- Conditions of reuse
- No licence statement is published on the results pages; the footer asserts only 'Copyright © 2026 NHS Staff Survey'. Benchmark scores are therefore used as attributed facts with a link to the source, and reports, dashboards and charts are not reproduced. Permission should be sought before republishing report content.

Reed Jobseeker API
- Conditions of reuse
- An API key is required: 'You will need to include your api key for all requests in a basic authentication http header as the username, leaving the password empty.' The developer documentation read did not contain the terms of service, attribution requirements, rate limits or reuse restrictions, so none are asserted here; Reed's full developer terms must be reviewed and accepted before any Reed job content is stored or republished.

Restricted — not republished — 8 sources
These may not be republished at all. They are recorded here so the pipeline can refuse them: the validator fails a build in which a restricted source feeds a page. They appear on the site only as outbound links, which is why some pages send you to a publisher instead of showing you the figure.

Conditions attached to these sources
Discover Uni (Unistats) course data
- Conditions of reuse
- No Open Government Licence is offered. The terms state copyright is held by the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, the Office for Students and the Scottish Funding Council, and that text 'may be copied or reproduced provided that the source is acknowledged, the text is not altered and it is not used for commercial gain'. Commercial use requires 'prior written permission of the copyright holders'; wider re-use must be requested in writing under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015. Because this site is commercial, Discover Uni content is not republished; only linked. The separate downloadable Unistats data file may carry its own terms, which could not be retrieved and so are not asserted here.

Glassdoor employer reviews and salary content
- Conditions of reuse
- Glassdoor robots.txt blocks AI and LLM crawlers site-wide under a group that explicitly names 'anthropic-ai', 'Claude-Web' and 'ClaudeBot' with 'Disallow: /' (only /blog/, /Award/ and /About/ are allowed), and separately disallows review and salary pagination paths such as '/Reviews/*_IP*.htm*' and '/Salaries/*_IP*.htm*'. No licence permits copying or republishing Glassdoor reviews or salary estimates. This site does not fetch, store or reproduce Glassdoor content.

HCPC online Register — individual registrant lookup
- Conditions of reuse
- Automated access is expressly excluded: HCPC robots.txt contains 'Disallow: /check-the-register/register-results/' and 'Disallow: /check-the-register/register-results/?query'. The records are personal data about named individuals, and no licence permits their bulk collection or republication. Individual registrant records are never fetched, stored or republished by this site; users are linked to the HCPC lookup instead.

Indeed job listings and company review content
- Conditions of reuse
- No licence granting copying or republication of Indeed listings or company reviews was found in the terms read; the terms do prohibit automation, stating 'Use of any automation, scripting, or bots to automate the Indeed Apply process outside of Indeed's official vendors and tooling is prohibited', and Indeed robots.txt disallows a large set of paths including /ads/, /cmp/_/ and /api/ endpoints. Absent an explicit permission, Indeed content is treated as not reusable: it is not fetched, stored or reproduced by this site.

LMI for All labour market information API
- Conditions of reuse
- Although the terms say 'All datasets included in the online portal are licensed under the Open Government License', the same terms impose a storage prohibition that is incompatible with a pre-built static site: 'It is expressly prohibited for applications, third-parties, intermediaries ... to store, in any form ... data returned by the LMI for All API.' Data transfer or storage outside the EEA and/or Safe Harbor facilities is also prohibited, and 'Access to the online portal is granted via request. The Department for Education reserves the right to deny requests at any time.' The LMI for All site additionally stated access 'will continue to be available until the end of October 2025'. No LMI for All values are cached or published by this site.

StudentCrowd university and accommodation reviews
- Conditions of reuse
- StudentCrowd terms state 'We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in the Site, and in the material published on it' and 'You must not use any part of the content on the Site for commercial purposes without obtaining a licence.' This site is commercial, so no StudentCrowd content is reused. Its robots.txt also disallows '/review/', '/data' and '/*.json$'.

UCAS Courses Data Service / UCAS course search
- Conditions of reuse
- UCAS terms expressly forbid the reuse this site would need. Clause 5.1: 'We are the owner or licensee of all copyright and other intellectual property rights in any material contained on the Website.' Clause 5.2 permits download or copying 'onto paper) or download material on to disk (but not on to any server or other device connected to a network) for personal non-commercial use only' and states 'Copying, distributing or any use of the material contained on the Website for any commercial purpose is prohibited.' Clause 4.1.1 forbids attempts to 'decrypt, extract, disassemble, reverse-engineer or decompile the Website', and clause 5.5 restricts linking to the homepage only without prior written permission. UCAS robots.txt also sets 'Crawl-delay: 10' and disallows /search/ and /data/documents/search/. The undocumented services.ucas.com search endpoint is an internal application interface, not a licensed data product, and must not be harvested. UCAS course data is licensed commercially to providers; a written licence would be required for any use here.
- Licence last verified
- 3 September 2026
Whatuni university and course review content
- Conditions of reuse
- No open licence exists for Whatuni review or course content, and its robots.txt restricts automated crawlers: 'User-agent: Amazonbot / Disallow: /', a paginated restriction on GPTBot, ChatGPT-User and OAI-SearchBot, 'User-agent: newsai / Disallow: /', and disallow rules covering search and filter paths such as '/*q=' and '*sort=*'. The Whatuni terms page could not be retrieved in this session (HTTP 404 on the URLs tried), so no terms are quoted. Whatuni content is not fetched, stored or reproduced by this site.

Using these figures elsewhere
Where the underlying source is openly licensed, you are free to reuse the figure with attribution to the original publisher — not to this site. Crediting this site instead of the publisher would strip the licence obligation, which is the one thing the whole registry exists to prevent.
27 of these sources state an attribution line or a condition in their own words; those are reproduced in full above rather than summarised, because a paraphrase of a licence condition is not a licence condition. If you spot a licence here that has changed, say so — a stale licence record is a more serious error on this site than a stale number.
