What the integrated master’s route means here

An integrated master’s runs undergraduate and master’s-level study as a single continuous programme, so you enter as an undergraduate and leave with a master’s award. You apply through UCAS in the normal way. The attraction is that the extra level is funded as part of an undergraduate course rather than as separate postgraduate study.

4 of the 129 approved occupational therapist courses follow this route. The rest are pre-registration master’s (48), undergraduate degree (48) and degree apprenticeship (29) , and all of them lead to the same HCPC registration and the same starting job. Choose the route that matches where you are now — school leaver, graduate, or already working for an employer who might sponsor you — rather than the one that sounds most senior.

3 of these 4 courses carry a UCAS code, so you apply through UCAS; the remainder take applications direct. 3 publish a typical offer in a citable form, shown in the table below. Whatever the route, the programme has to include 1,000 hours of assessed practice placement, and that is where most of the travel and most of the unpaid time goes.
